just saw it last night
the first half of the film i had mixed feelings about. some of it worked but some of it was too slow and seemed pointless.
the second half of the film though suddenly jumped up a gear and became classic tarantino cool.
I quite like where it ended. the last line of dialogue by Bill really sets up and increases interest for the next film. Its hard to judge whether it should've been one film without seeing the second volume. I just hope when i do i won't be disappointed.
I thought it was pretty great. Pure entertainment. 'Tino said himself this isnt like his other fims, or in his own words - "a movie-movie". As for the two halfs. So what? It makes my pointless life worth living. Something to look forward too, after Return of the King and before the Oscar race.

To be fair here, by its very nature Kill Bill is going to be weaker on storyline than QT's other films; its frame of reference after all is cheesy 70's martial arts movies. The ultimate Tarantino styled pop referential martial arts movie has to follow the conventions of the martial arts pop culture. Accepting that and sitting back to let the style flow over you Kill Bill is an excellent cinematic experience, so satisfying that i have had a geek attack and seen it three times so far.
It has weaknesses, the vernita green segment is messy and the sonny chiba section is too long but its worth it for the o-ren ishii segment, especially the anime.
I agree about the two part thing, very annoying, however i suspect that they would not have released both parts as one film without some cuts for running time, and i'd rather wait than let them chop bits out
it was a bit violent though. did anyone notice that or was it just me?

Kill Bill was heavy ! tarantinos love of shaw brothers kung fu pics , wu xia films and samurai epics really shines through . I cant wait for part two.Also while we are on the subject has anyone else got a death list? mine is very long.
